Improvisation Workshop

"Beyond Seeing – Stretching the boundaries of non-visual performance"

June 1-2, 2013, at Tatwerk Berlin

Most performances rely on vision as the primary medium of communication.

But what possibilities are there for a performer / audience interaction which doesn't involve sight?

How does taking the eyes away increase the receptivity and sensitivity of the other senses in the observer? And in the performer?

What possibilities are there to create a performance in which the audience member doesn't passively watch but is – perhaps in a literal sense – touched and moved?

In this workshop we will work with blindfolds, touch, movement and voice. You will hone your abilities to listen both with the ears and with the body. You will learn to increase your awareness of non-visual impulses and use the heightened receptivity of the other senses.
